when steve said that he had some amazing new products in the PPC line waiting to be unvieled...it surely couldn't have been the 1.33ghz and 1.42ghz iBooks lol.

What Teh Steve said is that the "amazing" products would not have PowerPC.
Teh Steve said:
The most important reasons are that as we look ahead, though we may have great products right now, and we've got some great PowerPC product still yet to come, as we look ahead we can envision some amazing products we want to build for you and we don't know how to build them with the future PowerPC road map.
It's, like, a ... bummer.

No later on in the presentation he says there are still some PPC's to be release. EDIT: Found some transcripts on the net. I <3 Google:

This transition isn't going to happen overnight. Again, we're making awesome machines right now, we've got a lot of great PowerPC products in the pipeline, but we're also working to design some Intel-based Macs and when we're here next year, we plan to have them in the marketplace and there will be a transition over the next two years. We're getting ready.

IMHO What he was talking about was the PowerMac, the iMac. The rest of the various Mac lines are going to be transitioned over the next 12 months. Mac Minis, iBooks, PowerBooks, and eMacs are going x86 first half of next year. In the mean time PowerMacs will prob get dual cores sometime next year as a hold-me-over for its 2007 conversion to x86.

Yeah, again with the "great". Just for kicks, check out how many times he used "great" in that keynote or any other. For Jobs that seems to be more like a word whisker than an adjective :D I wouldn't read any more into it than there will be routine updates, not necessarily knock-your-socks-off developments (except for those Shuffle socks, those really are overdue).

Okay, I'm going to let you in on it. This is a secret so don't tell anyone!
Steve's great new thing is a quad-core G5 processor that fits on a contact lense. Yes, you can Google while you're taking your final exams, while talking to your boss, while listening to the droning of that ugly blind date.

But, the hitch is he hasn't quite solved the heat dissipation issue yet. The first volunteers are now all wearing pirate patches. :(

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

This is another example of steve's reality distortion field at work. Maybe the ibook once again will come in five fruity colors and steve will call it an update!

I liked those fruity colors...

Anyway I hope that the mini at least sees a 1.67ghz processor before it moves to Intel. That and 64mb VRAM. We'll see. Maybe another updated around christmas? Probably too soon :-( Here's to waiting for the iPod mini updates now!

The timing for my next PowerMac upgrade falls in the summer of 2007, in time for the new Intels! Yay. I am smart for buying at the right time. :D

Maybe it's a two-button mouse.
Imagine trying to cool a G5 inside a two button mouse though...
I guess it would come with a Apple-brand oven mitt...with which you could only use one big mouse button...so they wouldn't need the two-button mouse...so you wouldn't need the mitt...so you could use a two-button mouse.

I bet Steve has pondered this very quandry. ;)

I somehow doubt it.

Maybe he has pondered a coffee warmer...er...I mean, G5 mini.

we have two more years of g5 powermacs people.

apple is not switching for the P4 and the desktop P-M dose not come untill 2007.
