I want to make Instrumentals and Acapellas

Get DJ CD's they have the tracks split. Otherwise its a lot of time and effort to split.
 
Thank You! But are there any programs for this. My friend said Soundtrack Pro could do this perfectly but it's hard to do.
 
The way they layer songs with 50 plus tracks and then master it will take a lot of time and skill to pick apart and that might not be perfect.
 
Is it worth it to buy Soundtrack Pro and mess around with stuff like this. I am interested and I have no time to search for DJ CDs.
 
The amount of time it would take makes it a waste to buy the software. I think you have a better chance getting the dual channel CD's

Simple. Soundtrack Pro CANNOT do remove lead vocals PERFECTLY.
Several sound editing packages offer the feature, but software can do a reasonable job of some music tracks. and a cr@ppy job on others. It all depends how the song was mixed.

You will have to decide how much you are willing to spend, and how imperfect a result you are willing to live with.

The other operation, isolating vocals from a mixed stereo track and dropping out all the instruments, is ^%&* near impossible.

Do not hold onto a fantasy that a piece of software will do this for you.
 
My friend is going to the Apple Store in a half an hour and he's going to buy Soundtrack Pro and use it to make instrumentals.
 
I can't believe he's going to try to remove vocals from songs in Sountrack Pro. He also thinks the results are going to be perfect.

My friend is back now and he also bought a 17" MacBook Pro with Soundtrack Pro. He said he's going to be removing vocals from songs all night long and he's not going to sleep tonight. He's just too excited by this. I didn't tell him anything yet but it will be interesting to see what he comes up with.

PS: You guys made me a critic of removing vocals from songs perfectly
