i was given the applecare box at apple japan

when i bought my MBP online, the applecare was automatically attached to the serial and no applecare box arrived in the mail.

the other night i bought a mba from apple japan in store and they gave me the applecare box with the cd inside. do i have to do something with this or will the applecare still be automatically tied to the serial?

Typically if you purchase AppleCare and a computer on the same receipt they'll auto-enroll it for you. Other than having to call in, you can also go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do and check your coverage there.
