Yesterday, I through some clothes in the washer and did some work around the house. About an hour later, I was going to go for a run and looked for my AirPods. Couldn't find them in the usual places. Then I remembered the clothes I was washing which had the jeans I had worn earlier in the day. I ran down and pulled them out finding the AirPods case in the washer. Uh Oh...

I opened them up, pulled off the ear pieces and placed them on that very warm part of my MacBook Pro's case and left them there for a couple of hours. Then I connected them to my phone to see if they were dead.

Surprisingly they worked just fine. Everything works. The sound is fine. the batteries seem fine. I was amazed. I didn't want to have to replace them until Apple brings out an updated model so I was glad not to have to do that.

I guess the really did improve the water proofness of these thing.

I know. I was fully expecting to have to buy a new pair and trying to decide if I could limp along without them until hypothetical new AirPods Pro come out. (I don't think I could be without them for even a week, let alone the several months before any updates are likely to come out). I used to have the first gen AirPods and an older iPhone when it's bluetooth died. I had to use wired headphones for a couple of weeks until I get a new phone. I hated going back to those. it felt like I was always getting tangled up in the cable. It was such a relief to be able to get back to the AirPods. :)

Mine did not survive the same exercise. They still work, but it sounds like you are underwater. Lol. Ironic, I know.

To be honest I always found them a bit finicky fit wise. I liked the original AirPods better. Those have started to have connection issues, so I recently picked up the new B&W PI7 wireless earbuds.
