From an article earlier this year. I caught this on a "year in review" piece by Yahoo News. Kind of touching (no pun intended).

Italy mystery of prehistoric hug

The skeletons' bones were discovered interlaced
Archaeologists in Italy have unearthed two skeletons thought to be 5,000 to 6,000 years old, locked in an embrace.
The pair from the Neolithic period were discovered outside Mantua, about 40km (25 miles) south of Verona.

The pair, almost certainly a man and a woman, are thought to have died young as their teeth were mostly intact, said chief archaeologist Elena Menotti.

The burial site was discovered on Monday during construction work for a factory building.

TROG & BULA 4EVER

BULA: Trog love, Bula?
TROG: Yes, me love Bula.
BULA: How much Trog love Bula?
TROG: Me love Bula after sharptooths all gone.
BULA: And?
TROG: Me love Bula after fires fall from sky.
BULA: And?
TROG: Me love Bula after mountains blow away.
BULA: Oh. Trog love Bula.
TROG: After me lay down, not move
BULA: Bula love Trog
TROG: Trog love Bula

In some ways it's sad, thinking of the two of them dying together whilst gazing into each other's face. In other ways it's incredibly endearing, thinking that they went together without violence or obvious injury of any kind.

It's a shame we're unlikely to every know their story.

I remember seeing this last year. For Valentine's day for my then girlfriend I Photoshopped our heads onto the heads in the picture and sent it to her. She was touched and horrified at the same time...

Is that the guy on the left? It's the first thought that popped into my head.

Hard to tell when they both have a bone
