Beos was the best operating system I ever used! Very fast!!! Its a shame palm bought them and did nothing with the OS There were rumours apple was gonna buy BE INC out but never did

Nope, Apple considered buying them but they bought NeXT instead. Apple actually got a pretty good deal, they got Steve Jobs along with it. Needless to say, this MacBook and OS X wouldn't exist if Apple had bought BeOS, and I doubt Apple would even still exist. Jobs turned the company around to where it is today.

In a way I agree with the OP, just from a technology standpoint. BeOS was DAMN cool in a lot of ways, very forward-thinking. Its file system and search capabilities are still far in excess of what OS X has to offer and it ran on much lesser hardware.

But from a business standpoint, NeXT was the right decision. Without Steve Jobs Apple would be dead.
