Was just looking at the history of the Canon Digital Rebel Series

Digital Rebel / 300D : August 2003
Digital Rebel XT / 350D : February 2005
Digital Rebel XTi / 400D : August 2006

Seems like about 18 months between updates, meaning we should see an update around February 2008 if the schedule holds.

I was actually looking at this today too, although for the whole Canon lineup.

As with the buyer's guide on this site though, past history really isn't a definite indication of future releases. Still, I'd definitely think that Canon will release something new on the low end by mid-2008, especially as there's now such strong competition in the range with Nikon's new D40 and D40x, Pentax's offerings, the Sony Alpha, Olympus... As the dpreview review of the XTi said, it's no longer the clear leader in the field.

I'm more excited (as a spectator) about the fact that it's been 1.5 years since the D30 was introduced, 2 years since the 5D came out, and 3 years since the 1Ds Mark II came out!
