A simple answer is 10-20% better all around depending on what you're using it for.

Depends on what you do. For gaming the new one is better but the previous gen is a lot bigger bang for your buck

The new i5 is ridiculously overpriced compared to the refurb.

i also got it refurbished, because too many $$$ of difference, plus in one year i intend to upgrade when (i hope) Apple will release imacs with hdmi and usb 3 or esata. So in 11 months when new models will arrive i will lose less money on selling this imac 27.

I say get the i7 Refurb it is the same price as the low-end 2010 27'' iMac.
