I have a 2010 Mac Pro 6c 3.33Ghz that I use for Final Cut Pro. Since this system doesn't have Quick Sync, I can already tell a difference rendering even on my 2016 Macbook Pro.

My question is, would an i5 be a good improvement, or do I need to get the i7? I am mostly concerned about heat and noise on the i7. Noise while I EXPORT is not really an issue, I just do not want to render a long video for several hours if it is too hot. Noise while I EDIT is a bigger issue.

My workflow is mostly YouTube content for various people. Some of them can be a 5 hour footage that I need to edit and export. On my 2010 Mac Pro, on a 5 hour video I notice around 12 hour rendering times. My 2016 Macbook Pro can get around 5-7 hours of rendering times, so a much better improvement.

Thanks!
