think about it this way, its easy to understand

year 1 core 2 duo
year 2 i3/i5/i7
year 3 i3/i5/i7 2nd gen

its a 3 year old processor ;p, thats the difference

(and the laptops will be upgraded to ivy bridge processors soon) which means third gen i5s. 16-20% increase between current and future upgrade
