it only illuminates in bright settings. if its dark, it wont illuminate. seems backwards to me, why is it doing this? i dont think it was last night when i first got it.

argh, first macbook pro had a blemish on it. now this one the keyboard isnt backlighting correctly. whats up?

hmm just read to put my hand over the webcam and it seemed to kick it back into gear. but then it dies and only takes bright settings to illuminate. what???

edit: maybe its hitting the sensor (some light from the window at a weird area) in a darker room and it works fine i think. i'll keep you all posted.

On my 13", the keyboard backlight is brighter under "brighter" low light conditions, relative to really dark conditions. Seems counter-intuitive, but it makes sense. In a somewhat dim room, the backlight would need to be brighter than in a darkened room, otherwise you wouldn't be able to see it. Likewise it needn't be so bright in a darkened/black room
