Hi everyone,

I recently got my new 2011 iMac with the 3.4Ghz i7 (2600).
After I ran some benchmarks, i found the i7 doesn't perform as it should

First the scores, for people who are searching how the i7 iMac wth HD6970 2GB performs:
3DMark06: around 20800 points
3DMark11: around 3200 points

3DMark06 and 3DMark11 warns me for having a lower score than average (I'm not the only one, found some other topics here where this is mentioned too). For 3DMark11 for example, it gives me a Physics score of P7754 and the PhysicsTest gives 24,62 frames per second. However according to 3DMark the score should be around P8900 and Google confirms. I even found most people with an i7-2600 are getting 26fps or higher in the PhysicsTest.

Why is this? Here are also a lot of people who find their Geekbench' score dissapointing too. Why does the iMac performs slower? Is it because of Apple's inefficient Logic Board? Or is it because it uses the new Z68-chipset which performs slower or stil needs better chipset drivers?

i didnt run the other tests but my geekbench for the same system was about 11,812.

what's yours?

I have the exact same score: 11812

But it's not a problem with my iMac, it's the 2011 iMac in general, which cpu's performs slower than they should

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

In Windows with CPUz running I have yet to see the processor go past 3.7GHz (should be 3.8 turbo.) Most of the time it sits at 1.6GHz. Might be taking a little while to ramp up to turbo.

On the WinSAT, save for the HD I get 7.6 across the board, out of 7.9. Is your CPU lower than that?

I might do some Pi or Prime testing to see how well it runs in Windows.

(sorry for double post)

Now I also have a 3DMark Vantage score: around P13000 with a CPU score of P23432, which should be around P25400 according to 3DMark. Seriously... :(

Edit: just saw 3DMark says the CPU was running on 3591 MHz ??

Turboed to 3.6. Close enough.
