I have an 800 MHz 17" iMac and, as of late, all of my iApps have been bombing out on me. iMovie craps out with startling regularity and often causes a kernel panic. iDVD quits, locks, freezes or disappears in the middle of encoding. iTunes also causes kernel panics. The Finder frequently needs to be relaunched. What is going on?! I'm a switcher and was so very pleased with the absolute stability of OSX until now. I'm getting less reliable performance out of OSX now than I am from my Win2k machine! I have plenty of RAM (768MB), no tweaks to the interface, I've repaired permissions countless times, done the fsck thing, run the hardware check CD, re-installed the OS...nothing helps. It's taken me three days to put together an hour-long movie because between iMovie and iDVD, I can't seem to get any sort of stable performance. Tonight after setting iDVD to encode and burn (while I went to dinner) I come home expecting to show off how cool my new DVD is and get a "The application iDVD has unexpectedly..." message instead. If anyone has any advice, I would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks!
Edit: I ran fsck -y again and on the "Checking Catalog File" part, it returned this error: "Overlapped extent allocation (file 1174689d)"
I did fsck -y many times and this error never went away. Someone help!
