im having some issues with my DVD ROM, maybe I need to reset some setting or something. I have the iBook G3 SE with a DVD ROM drive. I just bought it on eBay and I've used CD's in it and everything is good. All audio CDs and CD ROMs work fine. Yesterday I tried to use a DVD but it kept spinning up and then stopping. I tried an audio CD and it worked fine. I tried a Mac CD ROM and it worked fine. I tried a Windows CD ROM and it did the same thing as the DVD which was odd to me because I had put it in earlier and it loaded up fine. What is going on here?

What does the iBook's System Profiler list the optical drive as?

Did every DVD that you tried in that iBook just spin then stop?

Also, if an optical disk (CD-ROM or DVD) mounted one time then didn't the next, it could be a dirty reading lens (or maybe a dirty disk).

Yeah I just tried my DVD cleaner disk and it loaded so I'll try cleaning it and maybe that'll fix my issue. I'll try other DVDs too but the one I used was pretty clean.

like the other guy says, what does the system profiler have to say about the optical drive?
