ibook battery swap?

I have just bought an old ibook g3 on ebay, the battery in it is dead, if the battery is one of the ones effected in the recall will I apple just send me a new one even thought the battery is already dead?

They don't care if the battery is dead or not. Just check if the battery serial qualifies or not and they will send you a new one and you'll have to send the old one in the same box,it's a pre-paid delivery
