ibook broken cd-rom and tiger.how can i install it.

hi guys.
my girlfriend has a g3 ibook whith a broken cd-rom and she wants me to install tiger on it.i have an external hd and a powerbook.can i copy tiger over to the external hd using my powerbook and then hook her ibook up to the external hd and install tiger to her ibook that way.

now i tried to install it from my pb by connecting the two mac via fiewire and holding down the t key. i manage to copy tiger the the ibook but and tried to install it but nothing am i missing a set please let me know thanks.
