I've a serious problem...
I just purchased a second hand iBook G4 w/ a 800mhz processor, and everything works fine, except the cd drive doesn't work. Apparently there is a disk inside. When the mac boots, the disk spins, but won't eject.

Here's what I've tried:
Hold down mouse button on startup
Reset PMU and PRAM
type <eject cd> in open firmware -- says "can't OPEN the EJECT device"
System Profiler doesn't see the drive, not does DVD player, or Disk Utility.

When I wake the make from sleep, it sometimes spins the drive too, but no way of ejecting the CD... Any ideas?

Did you hit F12? I can't figure out if you're saying you did that AND the above, so excuse the obvious!
Do you mean in OSX? Yeah, I did... It's almost like the Mac doesn't know there is a drive there, except for the fact that I know that there is power to it, since it spins...

Thanks for the help!

I figured out my problem

I figured out my problem: I lifted up the keyboard, removed the RAM sheild, and underneath I found a orange cable that is the CD Drive cable... It turns out it was only halfway pluged in! I pushed it down all the way, and now it works completely :)
