ibook cd-rw/dvd-rom

I am currently trying to find a way to get something out of the ibook I have posted about several times, the one that the dog pissed on. It has an internal cd-rw/dvd-rom. I am currently using a powermac g4 that I am in the process of upgrading. Is there any way to replace the cd/dvd-rom (no burner) that is currently in the machine with the drive that came in my notebook? And while I'm on the subject is there any kits that are made so that I may salvage my hard drive in the same machine as well?

You can easily install the hard drive from the iBook in the Powermac using a 2.5" -> 3.5" drive adapter like this. You should be able to use the same adapter to install the iBook's combo drive in the Powermac, but it'll be a little more difficult. You'll probably need to leave the front plastic bezel off the Powermac since it'll interfere with the drive ejecting/closing.
