I've got an iBook with possibly a bad disk.

I tried to get info off the drive by mounting it after running Norton and some other utilities, but only limited info was left on the disk.

I now wish to wipe and install OSX, but the OSX installer won't see any drive in the system.

The other, older, utilites such as TechTool and Norton do see the drive.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Fred

u tried doing it twice cause that happend to me but it mounted on a restart

Actually, I just realized it can't see the disk at all.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Fred

It sounds like your hard drive may have crahed. Call apple to see about a repair.

Edit: oops, I didn't evn ask you if you had a warranty still. If you don't take it in for repair to confirm what the problem is, the have them put in a new hd (maybe 40gb)
