This may not be a good enough reason to start a whole new thread, but it's news for me, so....
When I bought my iBook 14 last fall, I was impressed with how quiet it was. Amazingly quiet, even compared to my TiBook. I had never heard the fan before, so I wasn't sure if it had even kicked in.
Well, today I'm printing a 295-page manuscript while surfing MR, and I hear the FAINTEST of extra noises. Quieter than my refrigerator humming across the room, even quieter than my inkjet in the other room. It's the fan. It's almost like a whisper, still probably quieter than my old TiBook without the fan.
Very impressed, Apple -- both with how quiet the fan is, and the fact that it took over six months for me to even hear it.
