iBook G3 466 Graphite Sleep Issue

Hi Guys,

Need some help with my iBook G3. If I tell it to go to sleep, the DVD clicks and the iBook wakes up straight away. So it is impossible to put it to sleep.

I have switched the memory and HD, I've tried OS9, OS X Panther, OS X Tiger with no result. The battery is dead and I have taken it out, but the sleep issue continues.

I've tried to reset Pram, PMU and NVram.

Can anyone help me?

Maybe the DVD Drive is bad...

It may be the battery, those all iBooks use a capacitor on the logic board and the battery as a PRAM. The PRAM controls sleep, so I guess it is the battery

I know im not helping, but soo jealous of this! Isnt this model the last of the clamshells and the rarest?

Yes the lime and graphite ibook G3 466 DVD were as nfar as I know special order so harder to find. I have a lime.

Next I second the battery pull and depress power button then plug back in and turn on. Mine had no sound due the the issue. Different problem, both would be a pram hardware issue as previously stated.
