Hi,

I have a G£ ibook that due to the size of its processor will not allow and upgrade to leopard. If I install a new HD with leopard pre-installed will it work in the G3?

replacing the hard drive won't change the issue. you would be only putting in a bigger drive. that's nothing related to the processor.

G3's don't officially support Leopard, but I've seen reports online of users that have gotten it to run. I googled "G3 Leopard" and found many posts on the subject. It depends on which G3 you have.

Check out Xpostfacto, it allows Leopard to be installed on the following PPC machines: 7300, 7500, 7600, 8500, 8600, 9500 and 9600, and a few of the old clones.

Click the link above for the download or here for a wikpedia definition of xpostfacto.

Good luck!

Even if you do get it installed via "hacks," it's going to run slower than I'd be willing to bear.

Definitely try and get a set of 10.3 or 10.4 discs. Even 10.4 may run slowly on that machine, depending on the clock speed of the chip.

dont even waste your time putting leopard on it, i personally didn't even like leopard much on my powerbook g4 1.67ghz it was too slow
