I have already opened another thread talking about wanting to paint this iBook G3, and the reason I would like to do it is because there are very noticeable light leaks on its top cover. This happens everytime you put the computer in front of the sun, and it is even more noticeable in real life:

I have always thought that this was because this iBook lacked the metal shield below the screen, but I have already opened it, and it turns out that everything is there. Could these light leaks be there by design?

Most people are looking at the other side of the screen when they are using it.

I’d say it’s pretty normal.
I've got two iBook G3s, one of which I have owned since I was 14 (I'm almost 25 now). I also owned iBook G4 for around the same time as the G3, and another one I bought last year.

I have never seen this. So yeah I'd say it's a little abnormal.

Forgive my bluntness, but given that you are painting over it, does it truly matter?

Personally, I think the light splotches add character to an already charming design. :)
