Hello!

Apologies if this issue has been brought up before. I have an iBook G3 Snow Dual USB (late 2001) that has a strange screen flicker issue. After booting, the machine will work just fine and then after 5 or so minutes it will occasionally flicker or refresh the screen. It will also usually cause the computer to slow down quite a bit as well. I don't know what's causing this. I think it may be heat but I wanted to see if anyone else has advice on this.

Three things that spring to mind: 1) your LCVDS cable is bad (that's the cable from the screen to the logicboard. After repeated opening and closings the cable can wear and fray, which results in screen flicker (particularly at certain angles). 2) The GPU on the logicboard has gone bad and this becomes evident after the Mac heats up to normal temps. 3) It could be time to repaste the CPU/GPU by disassembling the Mac and reapplying the paste.

Thank you. I will look into these suggestions the next time I'm able and report back with my findings. It's a machine in otherwise great condition with a very bright screen so I'm hoping it can be saved.
