I pulled out my iBook G3 and noticed the hinges are different to my G4. The G4 has plastic hinges while the G3 has metal hinges. I might have to disassemble my iBook G4 for a new HDD so I thought why not replace the cracked hinge with the metal one. They look the same, so they should work interchangeably right?

Will the metal hinge make pulling up the screen tougher? My G3 has hinges that are EXTREMELY tight, and takes a lot of force to pull the screen up.

Thanks!:)

So after some time, I finally decided to try it and it worked out fine. I checked some other parts like the top case and the grille and those were not compatible at all. I didn't try other parts out yet. I was going to try the power button but the screw holding it down didn't wanna come out(almost stripped it)
