My guess: about 40%.

Well, the GPU was much better in the G4s, wasn't it? Also the G4 obviously has the AltiVec engine which will make it significantly faster for some processes.

If I ever had to choose between the two, I'd take the G4 every time because the G3s had some reliability issues.

Man, with the same RAM, I wanna say double, but I don't know if that's really accurate. My iBook (in sig) feels like double the speed of my grandma's 14" 900Mhz G3.

i think it is about the same, unless you are doing graphix intense work or video editing. For me they, seem about the same for everyday tasks.
