ibook G3 good enough..?

I am looking into getting a inexpensive ibook for internet and some emailing plus a little utube. I have a Imac also, so photo editing or anything major will be handled with it. The G3 I've seen has like 500mhz, 128mb, with panther 10.3. Also has 12inch screen. Would this older unit do fine for basically cruising the internet?

it will be slow for sure but will be able to get on internet

It will work but it will be slow and youtube may be choppy or may not work.
If you want a cheap but good laptop try the ibook g4.It will work a lot better.

Would upgrading help to make it nice. Or would I be better off with G4? Cruising the internet at a decent speed is my main concern.

upgrading may make it a bit better.If you just want to surf if you upgrade you should be fine.If you want to watch a bit of youtube it may or may not work.
If you want to download youtube videos and heavily watch and stream you should get a g4.

Summary.
light surfing/email -g3.
light youtube -g3 with upgrade.
medium/heavy youtube download/streaming -g4.

From what you have described I think I'll be fine with a G3 and upgrade the ram and whatever else. Internet is the main purpose while at work or in a hotel.
