IBook G3 orange plug with no battery, won't start

I have an ibook G3, I just replaced the hard drive after the previous one died. While it was still apart, I started it up fine, loaded software fine. The power adapter plug was green during all of this (no battery installed). After i replaced the 326,185 screws, I plugged it back in, the plug was now orange (still no battery installed) and it won't start up. What did I do???
