I have a question. I have an Ibook G3 600MHZ w/ 256MB RAM. It's running 10.4.11. I'm wanting to use my Ibook at the best of it's ability. Should I take it back to 2001 and install 10.1 and use all the original stuff it came with. Would it make it faster? I don't mind living in the past, i am just wondering if running it on Tiger like I am slows it down.

Most definitely don't run 10.1 over 10.4.

Any speed "gains" would be negated by the inability to run any modern software on the laptop. A 600mhz G3 iBook isn't going to be THAT fast no matter what OS you're running on it, especially if you compare to anything modern/currently being sold. My 800mhz G4 iBook was running 10.3.9 as I hadn't upgraded to Tiger back when it came out because I said "meh, I'll get by okay on Panther." Even on 10.3.9, quite a few apps are unavailable due to 10.4 being the minimum requirements for the newer versions of the software.

I ran a G3 for a while, and I can tell you that you should definitely stay with Tiger. An OS reinstall never hurts either, but definitely don't even bother using anything before 10.4.
