So, i was given an Ibook g3 900mhz, it only came with 128 ram, so i went out and bought a 512 stick of pc133 patriot ram, now, when i install it, nothing comes on the screen. does this mean the ram is bad?

Most likely, yes. Try booting from the hardware test CD and seeing if it'll tell you if the RAM's ok or not. If not, just take out the RAM, and if it boots up without it in there... yeah, it's the RAM. Macs, especially older ones, are picky about RAM.

it could also mean that it's not correctly seated so pull it out and try installing it again

ok, i returned the ram to the woodland hills frys

now, i brought it back home and am trying to install my new copy of tiger, since it says it should run, but it keeps bringing me back into the open firmware. any ideas how i can make it install?
