Hi all

Picked up a dirt cheap ibook G3 600MHZ and have been playing around with it. It only has a 60gB HDD and 256MB or ram but the battery seems to work fine. Now, the issue I have is when I tilt it on occasion while moving it the screen goes black. It comes back to life after some keyboard strokes but seems to be completely random. Any ideas what is causing this behavior? I have all the power settings not letting the hdd go to sleep or the screen to dim or shut off.

Maybe it could be the display flat cable? I had the same issue with an Acer laptop some years ago, and it was the flat cable.
^^^This.

LCVD cable. It's worn. When you move the display through it's range of motion this will happen when you hit the spots where the cable is frayed.

Either a new LCD, or if you're good at it, a new cable.

That's too bad. Not sure if It's worth doing that. As long as I don't flex the screen too much its fine.
