Kind of torn on this - for a few dollars more you could get a top notch mac mini. But then you would have to add in a monitor, kbd and mouse too.

Well, it's for my wife and I didn't want to get her a windows laptop. Plus, I don't have the money to spend on a new Macbook and I really still kind of prefer the G4's at this point. I own a Powerbook G4 1.5 GHZ already, too......but I just realized that I had that in my sig. :(

If it's worth it to you, then go for it. But I would offer less, try for a compromise, then settle for what the person will take. I'll leave it to some other posters as to whether or not it's a "good price" or not.

I've seen it go both ways. I've seen some go for a bit more with less features and some go for a bit cheaper with about the same specs. I guess I'm just trying to get others thoughts.

Yea, id go for it, i've got the same machine, but w/ a combo drive, and its a great machine...

I've seen the same system with 512 go for over $700 on ebay within the last few weeks, so I'd take it for 600 easy

I've sold my 12" ibook G4 1.33 for $700 just this week, but it comes with 1.5GB ram, two more years of Applecare, a sleeve, and a screen protector.
AND I took fantastic care of it. AND it has all of the original receipts, packaging, and a new battery (replacement for the recall).
Also, I set that price with the guy months ago (before C2D updates) and am just now getting paid for it.

I've had a few offers from people wanting to sell me a nice ibook for about $500-$600 then I think to myself I could get a refurb macbook for $400 more thats on the order of 4-5x faster and I decide to wait and save my money.

So, from what I can tell, my hunch is correct.

It's a fair price. Not a helluva deal and not a ripoff. That's basically all I needed to hear.

So, I figured I would update you guys on the purchase. As it turns out, the computer was actually a G4 1.42 GHZ iBook with Tiger and the 1 GB of RAM, which I got for $600.

I think the deal is even better now.

yeah go for it, i sold my 12" ibook g4 1.33ghz with a 1gb and applecare everything else stock for 800 about a month ago, this is a great deal.

$600 is a fine deal. No tax involved. Plus, I haven't been shocked by how much faster the 1.83 intels are than a nice G4.

Specs be damned, I haven't noticed a major difference. I'm a Firefox/Word guy.
