iBook G4 1.33 wont install OS X 10.3 Panther

Guys I was tryin to downgrade my ibook G4 to Tiger from Leopard,but when I inserted and tried to install the Tiger,it says it can't coz need to have a lower OS installed on it, sans my installation of the Panther DVD which came from my iBook many years ago,hehehe.
I used this OS X 10.4 Tiger Installer (beside the OS X 10.5)

Since it will not be installed, I tried the Panther one which will just hang with an all gray screen.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it says you have to choose a different option than just install it, right? Than choose archive and install and then it should work.

Hi thanks for the reply.Im soo noob at this but I did do some research and some "how-to-do things also...can you please enlighten me a bit. I cant install Panther OS coz it will just hang with a gray color on the screen,and sometimes the optical drive will just stop reading the DVD.:(
 
If tiger works, install that. When the screen where you select which hard drive to install on comes up, click on yours. Then click options at the bottom left of the window. Click "archive and install." Then you should be good to go.
 
If it is telling you that you need an Older Operating system to install on your mac, then you must be trying to install it while your in Leopard. What you want to do is insert the Tiger Disk, restart and hold the C key it will then boot from the cd where you can reformat and install the os on your Drive.

Edit: If its hanging on the Gray boot screen, then its most likely your Super/Combo drive.
 
I had a problem doing that on a iMac G3 (trying to downgrade from panther to OS9). what seems to work is backing up all the stuff you want to keep, then wiping the hard drive clean, then installing the desired operating system.

actually i did all deleted whats inside the hard drive, then tried installing the Panther,but still it will just hang up.:(

thank you for the advice,but I did also try this one,holding the C key to boot the CD but,still before the installation stage,it will prompt that older OS must be installed first.:(
 
If I use the Tiger installer, the process is just up to the requirements stage as it will ask for a lower OS:

It was my first time to use,thats the original one bundled when i bought the iBook G4,still in its "tight" packaging when i opened it.:)

yeah,too bad if it is.now still thinkin how to install.will i changed the HDD?i have a spare 60GB IDE ATA or will i changed the combo drive.I dont want to change anything if it has still some troubleshoot options.
 
I resolve the installation by replacing the hardisk of the iBook G4.Tiger OS was successfully installed.But the Airport Extreme mini on the System Prof is not detected. The bluetooth is detected but airport extreme mini or combo is nowhere to be found. I have checked the airport extreme when I opened it and it was intact. I believe this is the one:

Well your just having bad luck. If the hard drive had to be replaced then it seems so does everything else. I would suggest getting drivers but your not dealing with windows hell. Maybe resetting it/letting sit will work out it's problems :confused:

Yeah.Im still looking for one..hehe..anyhoo.i Have another prob,even I successfully installed the OS but no wifi when I turned on my iBook just now,this appeared on the screen:

I again turned it off and on and pressing the D key but still this appears:confused::confused:
