Apparently my brothers kids trashed his CD-RW (makes a weird noise, won't accept discs) and it's out of warranty.

Any good places to find the replacement part and how easy is it to swap out a CD-RW in one of those? What torx do I need? T8 & T6?

Last power book I worked on was a 520

What model iBook is it. I haven't taken appart any of the G4 iBooks, but I can tell you it's not walk in the park on the G3's. There's a ton of tiny screws, and to even get the thing appart in the first place you actually have to Pry off the botton case (Very easy to scratch up the case). I wouldn't even attempt it unless you actually have the Take Appart Guide for you particular iBook.

Also a word of warning if you do attempt it. Be careful when replacing the Tiny (and I mean really tiny) Screws that hold the optical drive in because there is a magnet there that will pull the screw right from the screw driver as you try to get it in and its a pain to try and get it back.
