IBook G4 HD bad or something worse?

I replaced my Ibook G4 HD (which I assumed was bad) but upon installing OS 10.4 I can only get as far as "select destination".... and I'm not given any options to choose from. Obviously it does not recognize a HD. Any help?

You need to format the new hard drive. Under the Utilities menu at the top choose Disk Utility and erase the new drive. Then try installing as normal.

It's got 2: 27.9 GB HTS424----
and 3.5 GB MATSHITACD-R
Which one?

You want the 27.9 GB one. That's your hard drive. The other is the Tiger disc.
