I have my wife’s old iBook G4 that I would like to use for my grandsons on you tube and games. It boots. It goes online but the browsers are 15 years old and will not find Apple support to find alternative browsers. The old safari will not connect to anything. Mozilla Camino does but is pretty useless now. Any suggestions on getting this dinosaur to work for them?

What iBook is it and what operating system? Go to the Apple icon in top left and click About This Mac to find out. This will have a bearing on what can be done.

Well, given it's a PPC system, you won't get the speed and responsiveness on modern systems. That doesn't make them perfectly capable for most tasks though. I'm typing this on a Mac Mini G4! :D

@z970mp has done a bit of work in this area and @alex_free has a nice YouTube downloader script made specifically for PPC Macs. I use both of their software and enhancements quite a bit

I'll let them talk more about it tho ;)

@Dronecatcher I was just saying you'd be a perfect person to talk to about this when you replied! xD
