Hi,

I have just got a IBOOK G4 and want to remove the password option for when I install a new program on the MAC. Is this possible? Also in the MACHD how do I change the name next to the House ICON?

So many capitals. iBook, Mac, icon etc.

OK, the only time you'll need to enter a password is if an installed program is going to alter any system files. Without that password you're far less secure so no, you can't turn it off.

The name next to the Home icon is the short name of your full account name, changing it is not a good idea as it can cause all sorts of problems with your OS.

So to summarise, the answer to both your questions is "No, leave it well alone."
 
Welcome to the forums Andrew.

Do NOT change the name of the house icon. That will completely screw your system up. Do not change the name of your house icon, also known as your home directory.

Also, to be a sarcastic jerk for a minute, MAC is a cosmetic company. Mac OS is Apple's operating system for their computers.
