Hey Guys

I have recently run into a problem with my G4's mic. It used to work fine, but now it doesn't. Basically it records a really static sound if it move the screen part of the laptop up and down, but when i speak into it nothing is recorded.
I have filmed this happening, sorry about the video quality, it's the only camera i have at the moment, and its the cameras mic that is poppy.

Oh and yes I have checked in system preferences that the mic volume level is high.

I have the same problem. Although, my mic works when the lid is 2-3 inches from closed. a little more than half closed. I've tried everything besides actually messing with the hardware. I'm not sure that there even is a fix.

Sounds like the microphone cable is pinching itself in the hinge and shorting out.

You can remove the back of the LCD panel, it's held on with 4 torx screws and you can see into the back on the hinge. see if you can see if any of the wires are cut or shorting out on the metal hinge or other wires.
