I just opened my ibook, and I heard a cracking noise, and when I looked at the joint on the left side of where it says ibook G4, there is a small hairline crack perpendicular to the screen. I have applecare, but what are they going to say about this? It wasn't my fault, but now the screen doesn't stay open if I let it go at a certain point; it falls. Do you think they'd fix it for me? How long would I be without my ibook?

Well I would say apple care should fix it. What mostly likely will happen is they will replace the whole screen. As for the other question is most likely they will keep it for a few days since it's an older machine.
