ibook g4 trackpad replacement

Hey all,

I have had my ibook for some while now however i have dropped something heavy on the track pad and it has ceased to work correctly ever since so in my wisdom i purchased a top case for an ibook from ebay.

When it arrived today i swapped it over after checking the part numbers and them being the same, now when i turn the ibook on it pauses for a while before booting and doesn's recognize the track pad......

is this likely to be a faulty item or is their something i need to do?

i would really appreciate any help.
