why won't my iBook G4 (mac os x 10.5.8) read my blank DVD's? The dvds that i tried with are blue.. may that have something to do with it..? :mad:
 
this is what i have under "Disc Burner"

MAT****A CD-RW CW-8124:

Firmware Revision: DB0D
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds

Looks like it won't read a blank DVD because it doesn't burn 'em.
 
At the time DVD burners were slow and expensive. Only the top of the line iBooks had them. Even then I think it was only as a BTO inclusion.
 
DVD burners or Apple superdrives only came stock on the last revision 1.42ghz 14" iBook. BTO on last revision before that I believe and on the 1.33 12" iBook

you guys that said that the at the time DVD-R was rare/top of the line. Thinking back on 2004 I should of suspected so sooner. Its so obvious now, I remember 2004. Hell yea, thanks for your help you guys!
