iBook Internet Problems

Ive got broadband internet access on my desktop pc and i want to connect my ibook up to use the same internet connection. Basically so me and my bf can use the internet at the same time.

But i cant connect, i need some help!

How are you trying to hook it up?
I share 3 computers on my router, 1 broadband connection.

No router

Ermm well im totally new to the work of apple mac and not up to date with all the technology. Dont think i have a router, just running a cable from my desktop pc (with broadband) to the earthnet port.

This set up worked with my mums ibook but not with mine, dont know how to connect to server etc
