iBook issue.. won't wake from sleep..

Hey- I am sure this has been asked and answered before, but I am retarded when it comes to searching the archives... anyway.. if I have my iBook closed and sleeping, and I plug it in to AC power.. it will not wake up from sleep when I open it- I have to force reboot. If I plug it in, and then unplug it before I wake it up, it is fine. how can I fix this problem?

by the way- iBook/700, 640mb ram, OS 10.2.8
