iBook keyboard frozen

A friend turned his iBook off the other night and when he went to start up the following morning he got the log in window even though he hadn't logged out..

Keyboard had 'frozen' as well so he can't enter password..

Any ideas for a simple fix before it gets taken to the repair shop?..
