ok, i just upgraded to the ibook 14" 1.33GHz and to accomodate Tiger and my multi-tasking habits (e.g. iTunes, BBEdit, Dreamweaver AND PhotoshopCS all at once) I'm buying a 1GB RAM module.
of course, cost is an issue -- which explains why I bought the iBook instead of the PB -- and it seems like there's a wide range of prices one can pay.. I'm wondering if shelling out the extra money for 'branded' RAM really reflects some tangible change in performance.
from the few reviews i've found, I've narrowed my choices down to Kingmax's 2100 DIMM ($134 at Newegg), Other World Computing's 'generic' model (similar price, but some mixed reviews) or Crucial's ibook-branded module (~$125 more than the others, but perhaps worth it judging by the number of positive reviews I've seen).
then again, it seems that i could also get 2700-model DIMMs for the same cost -- which would come in handy when I upgrade to a PowerBook, right? or would the fact that this memory is under-clocked have a negative effect on performance?
um.. help??
