I have the 12" iBook 1.33GHz. My problem is, lately when I have it on sleep and its closed, sitting on my chair in its case, it will make the noise that it makes when opening it back up from sleep. Does anyone know whats wrong?

I do recall getting some static shocks before the problem arised. Would that have affected anything?

Have you removed hardware that was connected to the laptop while it was in sleep mode?

If not, it may be the reed switch. Check one of the links in my sig and I do have a writeup regarding the problem.

I don't want to jump to conclusions, however. The static shocks may just be coincedental.

The only thing plugged in is the power cable. However, my brother did just get an iMac with bluetooth mouse/keyboard, but I disabled bluetooth on my iBook, so I doubt its that.
