I found this sleeve for the iBook on ebay. Do you think it looks good? or would you recommend something else. I did check out the sticky, but I want to hear opinions: ebay

Those sleeves look like the zero shocks, they are very tough and will give your iBook maximum protection, go for it,

Shadow

Yep thats one of the Shinza Zero Shock sleeves - link

From what I have heard they are great sleeves. Look like they can take a pounding - check out the link.

I have a Crumpler School Hymn which is great! I was going to get a Zero Shock but u can't get them in Oz so I would suffer the exchange rate and shipping costs. So thats why I went with the Crumpler which I am very happy with.

Looks like it is cheaper on ebay then the official store so I say buy it! :)

i have the new version of the shinza zero-shock and while it is cool (it compresses when you push on it like one of those tempurpedic beds) i really don't think that will help your ibook--if gradual pressure is exerted on the sleeve, then it will condense, but if you sit on it or jump on it, it's just going to get squished.

i'd buy direct from Shinza (link in a post above) though, that guy might be selling you can older version of the sleeve. (and grey is a much cooler color :D)

DO NOT BUY.

A sleeve should fit tightly, like a glove. Any sleeve that advertises that it fits both a 12" ibook and 12" powerbook will not fit tightly. ibooks and powerbooks are very different in size. You want to find a sleeve that fits your particular model exclusively, only then will it fit perfectly.

I just looked through he forums and found this. What do you think of that? I would like to use it to cover my iBook when I'm carrying it in my bookbag just for a little extra protection.

I have one of these for my 12" powerbook. I like it, and it definitely fits tightly. It is not a pad though just a nice cover to prevent superficial scratches. I have one of these when I want some cushioning.

But there are a lot of good sleeves that fit tightly. The key is to find one that specifies that it fits just your particular model.

There is a really good thread on sleeves and cases here

I totally agree with the advice about buying a sleeve that's specifically designed for your notebook, not a generic one. You could have a look at the LA Robe sleeves (available from the Apple store). I purchased one for my sister's iBook a while back and it fits perfectly and offers pretty good protection. It's certainly a lot more padded than the Tucano second skin i've got for my PowerBook.
