my ibook gets slow nowadays... and nothings changed!

running programs: stickies, calander, mail, safari, itunes, ichat, simultansiously. but only... two or three activly... the thing becomes a slug when it once had not become a slug.

i know it's not the fastest steed in the stable:
it is 1.1 gig ibook with 768 megs of ram, and 2 gigs spare room in the hd, running 10.3.9.

and besides mac janitor and reparing permissions, is there anything else to do?

thanks,
r

2 gigs isn't a lot of spare hard drive room. Your computer needs to swap files out a of memory into virtual memory. Your 2 free gigs probably isn't 2 gigs of free continuous space, so the virtual mem file is highly fragmented and slow. Clear up some space.

In addition, journalled hard drives *hate* to have this little free space. You should try to have 5+ if at all possible, sadly....I think the recommendation is 10-15% of the total capacity?

i think i need a larger hd. 30 gigs is not enough.

alas, it is muy difficult to add hd to ibook.

thanks,
