Hey,
In a quiet room, you can hear the ibook whirring and a soft click, and it whirs again, and so on. It happens like every 2-3 seconds. It's not loud at all, but in a quiet room, it can get annoying.

It sounds like the HD spinning, but I'm not sure.
I have no upgrades except corsair 1GB ram.

If you haven't got the fan or CD drive running then it can only be the hard drive making the noise

Sounds like the HD to me too. If that's what it is, I'm pretty sure you'll desensitize to it pretty quickly. There are *much* louder hd's out there. And the iBook fan doesn't run that much compared to a lot of notebooks.... But good luck!
