Hi Everyone!

I have a 700MHz iBook, which up until last night was running perfectly. I have a bad habit of watching a movie on my iBook, then falling asleep with the iBook on my lap. I usually don't move while I'm sleeping, so I typically don't have any problems...until the laptop fell off my bed last night. Whack! and up I woke. I thought it would be dead, but to my surprise everything still worked after a restart. This morning, I tried to play some sound, and to my chagrin, nothing came out. System Preferences told me I had headphones plugged in (I didn't). So now, no sound with headphones plugged in or unplugged.

Any ideas short of replacing the logic board??? I thank you all for your ideas ahead of time.

Try turning the volume up all the way and then restarting, then seeing if the chime plays when it first starts. If it does, then you know that it's not a hardware problem, but if it doesn't then it is a hardware problem.
